New York Dance Project is a nonprofit dance company founded in New York City by Davis Robertson and Nicole Duffy Robertson, former members of the Joffrey Ballet. NYDPs diverse programming presents classic ballet, modern and contemporary repertory, as well as cutting-edge new work. Our dancers are both emerging artists beginning their careers and freelance professionals, including apprentices who are on scholarship or pay tuition to train full-time as junior members of the company. In a rigorous professional setting, NYDP bridges the gap between training and becoming a professional dancer.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, NYDP is a unique company that works with each dancer to achieve their fullest professional potential, giving them intensive individual attention, tailoring the repertory to challenge and educate them, and providing a dance company experience for them to better understand what it takes to be a professional dancer. Company members and apprentices participate in performances, national and international tours, and learn our diverse repertory. They also have the invaluable experience of working with established choreographers in the creative process of making new work.
New York Dance Project is also committed to honoring and promoting the legacy of Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino, through teaching and performing their choreography. Our Summer Intensives are dance laboratories where dancers will train intensively with our experienced faculty and learn our repertory. Dancers that attend the summer intensives will automatically be considered for our year-round company.
