Out by Ten: Jazz, Bluegrass, NeewGrass, Roots Music
Producers of Out by Ten, Jane Ashe and Susan Seliger, hand pick the best, cutting-edge musicians, storytellers, singers and multimedia performers to create a night of inspiration (not to mention free wine and cheese) the fourth Thursday of the month, in a salon-space (Spectrum NYC) in downtown Manhattan.
On May 22, 2014, there will be two acts: from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM. You'll definitely be out by ten.
Act One: The Rosenthals
A father-son duo blend foot-stomping bluegrass and tasteful jazz in their own unique sound. Phil Rosenthal, on banjo and guitar, is a Grammy-nominee and former lead singer and guitarist in the legendary Seldom Scene band. His compositions have been recorded by the likes of Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe and Nick Cave. (He also founded American Melody recording company.) Daniel, on trumpet, tours with the Grammy-nominated Either Orchestra and the Daniel Rosenthal Quintet. The duo'sjust-released debut CD, "Fly Away", is winning rave reviews.
Act Two: Joe Alterman and Hilary Gardner
Joe Alterman, talented jazz pianist, has performed with other jazz greats at venues across NYC and around the world including the Blue Note Jazz Club in Milan and NYC, the Iridium Jazz Club, the Kitano, and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola. Hilary Gardner, despite growing up in tiny Wasilla, Alaska, has been invited to share her transcendently beautiful voice all over NYC and the world. You may have heard her debut album, The Great City, played constantly by Jonathan Schwartz on his NPR radio program. She has even sung duets with Frank Sinatra through the wonders of digital magic after being selected by the Frank Sinatra estate to appear as the live, onstage singer, backed by a 19-piece band -- and Frank -- in Tony-award winner Twyla Tharp'sCome Fly Away.

7:00 to 8:15 PM.

Our $20 admission fee at the door ($18 in advance) includes free wine and cheese. Plus you'll get a 10% discount at Amuse Wine Bar, before or after the show, on the first floor below just say you're with Out by Ten.
