--------------------------------------------------------

Marc Edward Heuck, founder of The Projector Has Been Drinking film and culture blog, presents the third installment of his new screening series: CINEMA TREMENS! Offering a carefully crafted brew of cinematic styles we hope you find intoxicating.

Our April double feature reminds us that faith is a funny thing, as we revisit two controversial comedies about inexperienced naifs whose sincere search for enlightenment puts them in the path of craven opportunists looking to cash in on catechism. It's also our most star-studded event, as we will be lucky to have guest speakers for BOTH films!

First, comedy legend Marty Feldman writes, directs, and stars in the not-on-U.S.-DVD satire IN GOD WE TRUST. Feldman portrays a friendly friar whose attempt to save his monastery puts him in contact with a scrappy traveling preacher (Peter Boyle), a patient prostitute (Louise Lasser), and a megalomaniacal televangelist (Andy Kaufman), not to mention an almost literal God of comedy, Richard Pryor! IN PERSON to introduce the film is longtime Feldman historian and friend Alan Spencer, creator of the acclaimed TV shows "SLEDGE HAMMER" and "BULLET IN THE FACE," who will tell you the inside story of how many institutions were shaken by Feldman's screenplay!

Then, Jena Malone is an old-time-religion-loving schoolgirl that opens her own personal Book of Revelations as she finds herself getting in an unholy "holier-than-thou" competition with her sneaky sugary rival Mandy Moore, while her friends Eva Amurri, Macaulay Culkin, and Patrick Fugit try to keep her straight, but not narrow, in SAVED! To celebrate the film's 10th Anniversary, director and co-writer Brian Dannelly will be appearing IN PERSON for Q&A!

Please join us on April 23rd (and if you miss our presentation, the films will screen again on the 24th, just without guests and prizes!!) for a night of righteous revivalist 35mm cinema.
