About
(Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham, Rachel Szor, 2024, Palestine, 96 min, in Arabic, English, and Hebrew with English subtitles)

This screening of No Other Land is a fundraiser for the communities in Masafer Yatta. 100% of the proceeds of this screening will go to the Solidarity Fundraiser for Masafer Yatta and directly distributed to the communities of Masafer Yatta to support a range of emergency needs (e.g. legal fees, medical expenses, temporary shelters, etc.). This screening and fundraiser are put on in partnership with the Center for Jewish Nonviolence (CJNV), an organization that brings Jewish activists from around the world to join in Palestinian-led nonviolent civil resistance to occupation, apartheid, and displacement.

A post-screening discussion will be led by local activist and educator, Naomi Price-Lazarus, who has spent significant time in Masafer Yatta. There will also be additional opportunities to donate funds to support the Solidarity Fundraiser.

SYNOPSIS:

Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist from Masafer Yatta, has been fighting his communitys mass expulsion by the Israeli occupation since childhood. Basel documents the gradual erasure of Masafer Yatta, as soldiers destroy the homes of families  the largest single act of forced transfer ever carried out in the occupied West Bank. He crosses paths with Yuval, an Israeli journalist who joins his struggle, and for over half a decade they fight against the expulsion while growing closer. Their complex bond is haunted by the extreme inequality between them: Basel, living under a brutal military occupation, and Yuval, unrestricted and free. This film, by a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four young activists, was co-created during the darkest, most terrifying times in the region, as an act of creative resistance to Apartheid and a search for a path towards equality and justice.

Accessibility

Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter. The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject! If you have additional specific questions about accessibility at our venue, please contact our Patron Services Manager at maria@nwfilmforum.org
