2x National Jazz Award winners BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO from Brooklyn, NY is an electric-jazz powerhouse colliding Black American Music artforms (hip-hop, funk, soul, rnb, jungle) with jazz narratives, extrapolating the ideologies of Miles Davis & Randy Brecker. This dynamic threesome combines virtuosic performance skills with a deep knowledge of the jazz lineage, all set against an energized urban sonic backdrop, their chart-topping albums Juggernaut and Gravitation capturing their energized exploratory sounds perfectly. BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO is led by Trinidadian-born, internationally acclaimed Brooklyn, NY based jazz iconoclast BROWNMAN ALI -- a protege of trumpet legend Randy Brecker. Brownman, when not leading the 8 bands he actively writes for and tours with, is a highly sought after soloist, the current touring trumpet player for hip-hop icons Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Missy Elliot, was nominated for a 2024 JUNO award for Jazz Album of the Year, after already winning Canadas Black IMPACT Award (the first jazz musician in history to win this), and has been called Canadas preeminent jazz trumpet player by the New York Village Voice, the new standard in electric jazz by NPR, New York (National Public Radio), and one of the most exploratory voices in jazz trumpet today by the Chicago Tribune. In 2024, he won the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) taking 1st place in the Jazz Category, from a field of 17,000 submissions from 120 countries for his composition "Wisdom of Aurelius". Brownman is also the CEO of Browntasauras Records in Brooklyn, NY, home to the 8 groups he leads and artists he has mentored and produced, where the labels mandate is to catalyze the creation of new jazz art, and where 100% of all proceeds go directly back to the Artists on the label.

ABOUT BROWNMAN Trinidadian-born, NYC-schooled & heralded as Canadas preeminent Jazz trumpeter by NYCs Village Voice, multi-award winning trumpet player Brownman Ali stands at the forefront of innovation in the Canadian jazz community. A protégé to his teacher, Grammy-winning trumpet legend, Randy Brecker, he tirelessly leads 8 unique ensembles of his own including the internationally acclaimed Miles Davis influenced BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO , and the award-winning CRUZAO latin-jazz quintet. In 2009 he launched his own record label: Browntasauras Records, which saw the Electryc Trio's flagship release "Juggernaut" shoot to number 3 on the iTunes USA jazz charts. The label is now a home to all his ensembles and is an incubator for a new generation of forward-minded jazz artists. Valdes & far too many more to name here. In high demand in the studio world with over 300 CD appearances to date, Brownman delivers stylistically authentic horn playing over a wide range of styles from bebop to hiphop having recorded or toured with the likes of Guru's Jazzmatazz (replacing Donald Byrd in that primordial ensemble), Mos Def, KRS-1, Jay-z, Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, Mingus Dynasty Big Band, Gary Bartz, John Scofield, Wayne Shorter, Chucho Brownman now splitting his time between Brooklyn, NY and Toronto, ON is nationally recognized as one of the most unique and provocative improvising trumpet players in North America and is widely regarded as a vanguard for the evolution of Jazz in Canada. A highly decorated artist, his accolades include 2 National Jazz Awards (11 nominations over the years), 10 Global Music Awards, a CBC Galaxie Rising Star award, a SOCAN composers award, Montreal Jazz Fest's "Grand Prix Du Jazz" award, 7 Toronto Independent Music Awards (16 nominations), an International Independent Music Award, an induction into the WHO'S WHO IN BLACK CANADA , a BRAVO! channel documentary on his life, NOW magazine naming him "Toronto's Best Jazz Musician", CBC Radio Canada named him "one of the most recorded trumpet players in Canadian history", the Trinidad & Tobago Consulate General awarded him with a citation for being a "Distinguished National of Trinidad", and was once listed by Air Canadas in flight magazine as One of the Top 10 reasons to visit Toronto".
