Benefit Concert for Don and Victoria Armstrong
Join Sue Harris, Gaylan Taylor, Bill Zorn, Dolan Ellis, Ian Macpherson, Oscar Ruben Cisneros, Joe Bethancourt , Ron Iverson and more as we play music and tell stories to raise some money to help Don and Victoria with their current medical situation. There will be fun stuff offered for sale & donation, and there will be some surprises!!
As many of you know, Don & Victoria Armstrong have been performing and sharing their music for many years. Victoria has been living with a cancer diagnosis and is in the loving arms of her husband and hospice care at this time. So what better thing to do than to get some of their friends and musical family together and have a party for these two very special members of our musical community?! Their roots go way back, and their branches spread a wide canopy that will continue to inspire other musicians and listeners long into the future. Come join us for this evening of music, fun, and fundraising!
Don and Victoria have always been there for others in need and to share their talents for a good cause. Travis Edmonson was a tremendous influence on Don and Victoria's music, and on May 9, 2008, they had the honor of performing "Malaguena Salerosa" in a tribute concert to Travis that was held at Fiddler's Dream. Michael J. Ronstadt on harmony vocal and Bobby Ronstadt on accordion accompanied them on this song... Travis passed away one year later, to the day. This song is featured on their new CD, "Telling the Tale" dedicated to Travis and to Erik Darling.
Doors will open around 6pm. We will be having a little grill fest going pre-show, with sirloin burgers, veggie burgers and more for your dining pleasure, with proceeds going to the cause! We're thinking the music will start about 7pm, but hey - this is folk music after all - who knows!!
Suggested donation of $10 to $20 - remember, this is a fundraiser for some wonderful members of our community!! Be as generous as you can! And if you cannot attend, or are out of town and still want to support Don and Victoria, feel free to buy a ticket or two - they will receive 100% of the proceeds!
