Gillian Summers & Nina Wise
Gillian Summers 'Hush' 9/16 @ 7:00pm & 9/29 @ 7:00pm
Set in working class Liverpool 'hush' is a story about eleven year old Gillian and her newly arrived baby sister Helen. Young Gillian takes us into the heart of her troubled family and with her we struggle to understand the behaviour of adults and the complex nature of mother love and loss. Ultimately 'hush' is a love story and like all love stories it will make you laugh and make you cry!~

Hush is an excerpt form a larger work in progress and it has been performed this year at The Marsh's Festvial of New Voices and at The San Francisco Theatre Festival. Gillian came to the bay area 4 yrs ago and during the last year has been studying with David Ford at The Marsh and with Nina Wise.
Nina Wise Improvising
A wild romp weaving events of the moment with the big universe
A consummate improviser, Nina Wise will create an on-the-spot piece incorporating whatever is going on in her personal life with whatever is going on in the world-at-large. The work is entirely spontaneous, highly physcial, intellectually riveting, and generally quite funny.
Nina Wise is known for her provocative and original performance works. Her pieces have garnered seven Bay Area Critics' Circle Awards, and she has received, among other prestigious honors, three National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. Her written pieces have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies.
The Village Voice says, "No mere talking head, Wise possesses a supple physique, prodigious energy, and nerve with which to render the shapes and souls of things."
Ashland Tribune says, "You leave a Nina Wise performance uplifted, as if you've seen something fresh, moving and above all deeply human. . . It is all astonishing."
SF Weekly says, "Wise moves and speaks like a veteran jazz musician; there's structure and poise to her every riff. . . Simply being in the same room as this consummate improviser for a couple of hours is to watch the unknown unfold before your eyes."
WiseÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂùs innovative and spontaneous approach to telling her stories has earned her praise across the country. Her point blank eloquence is... astonishing. A word to the Wise would be to go see Wise when you have the opportunity. Ashland Theater Review
