Spring Fool Factory: Human Machines
This three-day spring workshop series examines the HUMAN MACHINERY behind inventive and exciting ensemble physicality. Lifts, carries, and comic acrobatics in the context of the Commedia dell'Arte story.
The three-part workshop will focus on COMMEDIA CHARACTERS, ACROBALANCE TECHNIQUES, and the creation of ENSEMBLE PHYSICALITY. Day One (Commedia characters) and Day Two (Acrobalance) may be taken independently. In order to participate in Day Three and the Final Showings, participants must take all three workshops.
Dates: Sundays, April 27, May 4, and May 11 Times: 11am to 5pm There will be a final showing on Sunday, May 11, at 4pm.
Tuition: $250 for the full course. $100 for Day One or Day Two only.
Day One (Apr 27): The characters, style, and lazzi of Commedia dell'Arte. Beginning students will study technique, while returning students will create short scenari. Days Two (May 4): Acrobalance: Lifts, Carries, and Comic Acrobatics; Or, "Things to Do on Stage, Other than Standing Around" Day Three (May 11): Ensemble story-telling and human machinery. Create new works of Commedia dell'Arte, culminating in an public performance at 4pm. (Final showing is free and open to the public.) [Note: you must participate in Days 1 & 2 in order to participate in Day 3.]
