Burlesco Notturno GLAMOUR
Glamour... the quality of fascinating, alluring, or attracting, especially by a combination of charm and good looks excitement, adventure and unusual activity magic or enchantment
Sounds like the ideal way to slip our way into the balmy temperatures of May, doesn't it? Burlesco Notturno, Vashon's sexy, saucy cabaret, returns with an all-new, alluring, adventurous, glamourous concoction on Saturday, May 3.
Fascinating and attracting are defining characteristics of The One The Only Inga Ingenue, world-wide burlesque star, returning to our stage with delectable new numbers. A combination of charm and good looks fits burlesque artist J. Von Stratton to a T (plus she's just off a world-tour with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis how's that for adventurous?). For unusual activity we have the singular Bill Robison and the charming A Unicycle Built for Two. Sultry island songstress Arlette Moody debuts Lilette, a glamourous new character, and those The Love Markets return in their decadent little black slips. All hosted by the most statuesquely glamourous diva ever, the enchanting Madame X and her charmingly unusual Lawyer.
The One The Only Inga Ingenue was born and raised in Seattle, WA, where she began taking dance lessons at age three. For the next 16 years she studied French ballet, traditional and rhythmic tap dance, jazz and modern dance from instructor Susan Wright. In 1999, Inga attended Oberlin College, where she studied modern dance and performed with the Oberlin Dance Company and VIBE Jazz/Tap Company. A Unicycle Built for Two Nick Harden and Wendy Allen is an upbeat, stylish act that blends the unicycle, acrobatics, and light-hearted romance. The Seattle Met called A Unicycle Built for Two a "can't-miss event." Nick & Wendy's personalities capture and thrill audiences as they flirt, flip and twirl. Nick & Wendy met in Seattle, and have worked together to craft a unique story on the unicycle. In 2013, they also debuted their hand-to-hand skills with the Zoppe Circus. Nick Harden started training in the circus arts at the Illinois State University Gamma Phi Circus under the direction and coaching of Al and Lin-Veronica Light. He has performed in a variety of acts including partner and group acrobatics, German wheel, juggling, Russian bar, teeterboard, tightwire, and unicycle. He now lives Seattle where he trains at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts. He has performed in productions throughout the United States, and has filmed commercials for national audiences. When Nick is not performing or training he also enjoys riding his bicycle and making things with his hands. Wendy Allen grew up flipping and twisting at a gymnastics center in Northern California. After getting a BA in Film and Digital Media from UCSC, Wendy was invited back to Northern California to teach tumbling with an after-school circus program. She loved it, and quickly decided she wanted more circus. In 2010 Wendy moved to Seattle and fully immersed herself in the circus world. Now Wendy trains at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts. In addition to her unicycle and hand-to-hand acts, Wendy enjoys tumbling and playing on the teeterboard.

THE LOVE MARKETS make songs for a world in which we are all on the market, looking for love against a backdrop of loss, greed, and political corruption. Fronted by singer-songwriter Angie Louise, the band mates the eerie glamour of Weimar Berlin with the bluesy grit of New Orleans. In 2013 The Love Markets released their debut album World Of Your Dreams at ACT's Falls Theatre, drawing raves from Seattle Magazine ("Irresistible... Intoxicating theatricality... A deliciously dark carnival") and City Arts ("Ruffle-clad ruffians... Uber-belter vocals... Fearsome chops"). Since their birth in 2008, the Love Markets have donned their well-used uniforms of military lingerie for sellout shows at the Bullitt Cabaret, Le Can Can, City Arts Fest, SAM, and Seattle International Cabaret Festival; performed as featured guests with Seattle Men's Chorus, Sandbox Radio, and on TV's ArtZone with Nancy Guppy; provided entertainment at galas for beloved arts organizations from ACT and Seattle Children's Theatre to 14/48; served as four-time hosts of the Gregory Awards for Excellence in Theatre; and provided music for multiple installments of Vashon's Burlesco Notturno, where they are always enchanted to return. The Love Markets are Angie Louise (vocals, songs, keys); Robertson Witmer (accordion); David Marriott Jr. (trombone); Dave Pascal (bass); and Chris Monroe (drums). Filling in for Chris tonight will be honorary Love Market Ben Morrow.
