Burning Down the River 2025: Rise of the Phoenix 20th Anniversary
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Burning Down the Rivera gathering that has evolved, transformed and, like a phoenix, continues to rise from the ashes.
Once an official Midwest burn, BDR is now an intimate float for those who live by the OG principles of radical inclusion, acceptance and self-reliance. Come party (or find yourself) with us!
THEME:
RISE OF THE PHOENIX
Dress to express fire, flow toys, reds, oranges, and golds. Carve your regrets into the effigy to wash them away in the flame. Smear the ashes of past experiences across your face and step into a weekend of transformation
COMMUNITY POTLUCK
~ Friday, July 11 Bring a drink, meal, snacks, or love to share. This is the time to find your float crew or adoptive squad!
MAIN EVENT:

~ Saturday, July 12We hit the water and ride the river together, then gather at dusk for the effigy burn!
***If you want this to happen, INVITE YOUR FRIENDS. This is community-funded - we can't do it without you. We'll announce any float changes weeks before the event.
WHY VOLUNTEERING MATTERS
This is NOT a festival. This is a community experience. Everyone brings somethingwhether its art, food, music, fire, or just a radical kindness to keep the spirit alive. You dont build it, its not happening. Period.

~ Blow job crew - get us to the river
Were offering tiered pricing to make sure the homies can join. If you can contribute more, it helps ensure this event survives for another 25 years.

RIVER SAFETY IS KEY
Get a float that can handle the waves (or find a friend with a kayak). Bring a cheap paddle, sunscreen, hats, snacks, and a water bottle. Weve got well water on tap, but take care of yourself.
Thanks to Lance we have a beautiful space at Water Mountain to host this event. This is private land and we expect every attendee to respect the space, the people, and the energy were building.
