Burning Down the River 2025: Rise of the Phoenix 20th Anniversary
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Burning Down the Rivera gathering that has evolved, transformed, and, like a phoenix, continues to rise from the ashes.
Once an official Midwest Burners event, BDR is now an intimate float for those who live by the principles of community, creativity, and radical self-reliance - let's party!
THEME: RISE OF THE PHOENIX
Dress to expressbring your fire, flow toys, reds, oranges, and golds. Carve your regrets into the effigy to wash them away in the flame. Smear the ashes of the past across your face and transform while you dance in the shadows.
MAIN EVENT: THE FLOAT & THE BURN
Saturday, July 12 We hit the water and ride the river together. No sleep, no delayswhen we return, we go straight into the effigy burn!
RIVER SAFETY IS KEY Pool floaties wont survive this river. You need a float that can handle the waves (or a kayak). Bring a paddle, sunscreen, hats, snacks, and a water bottle. Weve got well water on tap, but take care of yourself.
COMMUNITY POTLUCK
Friday, July 11 Bring a drink, meal, chips, treats, and love to share. This is the time to find your float crew or adoptive squad!
