Tantra, Monogamy and Beyond
Sugar is thrilled to welcome back Mark and Patricia with a brand new class!
Sexless marriages, affairs, and the high divorce rate all reflect the unsustainability of monogamy as it is commonly understood and practiced. The Tantric model of relating offers an alternative to the monogamous model. Modern practitioners can come closest to the spirit of authentic Tantra in the context of a long-term relationship. It's possible to reject conventional monogamy while deepening your connection to your partner.
This may not involve interacting sexually with others (although it can). From the Tantric perspective, relationships, and especially sexual relationships, should be collaborations. Sexual exploration, is a joint undertaking, based on each partner's desire to facilitate the others growth. In this workshop, we'll examine these ideas in depth and provide you with practical tools for staying connected as you each explore your sexuality.
Mark A. Michaels (Swami Umeshanand Saraswati) and Patricia Johnson (Devi Veenanand) are a devoted married couple and have been teaching Tantra together since 1999. They are the authors of The Essence of Tantric Sexuality (Llewellyn, 2006), which won the USA Book News National Best Books 2007 Award in Health: Sexuality. Their second book, Tantra for Erotic Empowerment: The Key to Enriching Your Sexual Life (Llewellyn 2008) won the 2008 USA Book News Award, also in Health: Sexuality, was selected as an Indie Excellence Awards finalist in New Age Non-Fiction, and is a ForeWord Magazine Books of the Year Award finalist in the Body, Mind and Spirit category.
