Refuge is a dance party for queer folx and their friends to come together in playful ritual. Refuge is an opportunity to get out of our heads and drop into our bodies through dance, somatic play and a touch of magic. Each month we align the celebration with astrology and the elements, gently calibrating ourselves to the constant cycles of life, the world around us and the worlds within.
This month, the dreamiest of dreamers -Pisces- is calling us to get connected with ourselves and one another on an emotional level, practicing understanding and compassion. Which honestly feels pretty clutch right now. We are taking that call and swimming with it in our first ever Embodiment Play Time!!
Our good buddy Gunner, queerdo clown extraordinaire, will guide us through some playful, emotional embodiment before we dive into the dance and completely loose our minds. DJ Mx.defy, known for infusing their performances with a sassy mix of wall-banging bass lines and pure queer joy, is calling in the twin fishes by curating this dance party from their gut, crafting us a sonic dreamscape that transcends genres. Hip Hop, House, RnB Throwbacks, Pop Remixes, Reggaeton, EDM, Disco and more! This will be a sweet somatic dance set designed to loosen us up from tip to tail.

A few things to keep in mind:
1-At this party the dance floor is sacred, we ask that you keep drinks, phones and conversations on the side lines. If you need to communicate on the dance floor, try body language!
2-There will be an altar, please bring something to co-create it with us!! Rocks, flowers, knick knacks or fish shaped things you found, anything you feel calls in the empathy, creativity, or spiritual depths of Pisces. You can leave the item for future altars or take it home with you at the end of the night, charged up with dance floor goodness.
3-This dance party is a refuge for queer folks and their friends, if you are not queer and have no queer friends, please think hard and get clear with yourself on why you want to be here.
4-Any actions or statements that cause other attendees discomfort will instigate a conversation and could lead to you being asked to leave.
