An introduction to Yiddish theater and culture designed for people who don't give a rat's rectum about Yiddish theater and culture, THE ESSENCE played a sold-out run at the NY Fringe Festival and to standing ovations in Stockholm and Bucharest. It's 84 minutes of scenes, songs, stories, and oddball digressions, from the sublime to the moronic. In English and Yiddish-with-supertitles. (No language skills needed.) (Okay, maybe English.)
