DESCRIPTION
The discussion will begin with understanding Bill C-92, which is crucial for addressing the needs of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit children and families. We will explore why this legislation is necessary and its key provisions. To provide context, a brief history will be presented highlighting First Nations' significance and jurisdiction in these matters.
Our conversation will also touch upon the initiatives of the Our Children Our Way Society, emphasizing the importance of reconciliation in our efforts. Additionally, we will review relevant Supreme Court decisions that have shaped the landscape of children's rights and family services. To conclude, we will consider the recent decision made by the Assembly of First Nations in October and provide resources that can support your agency moving forward.
