CASE CLOSED, THE LAST STAND - HEROES AT BALLONA WETLANDS
:
CASE CLOSED Roger Weisberg - USA 2004 CASE CLOSED chronicles the struggles of Keely Lopez who is discharged from foster care and suddenly discovers that she is on her own. Although Keely was able to land a steady job and rent her first apartment as she approached her 'emancipation' from the foster care system at the age of 21, loneliness and depression set in, and Keely loses her job, becomes pregnant, and turns to public assistance. Although there is no Hollywood ending to this emotionally wrenching story, when Keely's daughter is born, we see a woman who is determined to offer her child a better future.
THE LAST STAND - HEROES AT BALLONA WETLANDS Todd Brunelle, Sheila Laffey - USA 2004 THE LAST STAND is a newly updated spirited film hosted by Edward Asner with music by Joni Mitchell, Kenny Loggins and Joe Walsh which centers on the politics, players and environmental issues in the debate over preservation and development at one of the last remaining wetlands ecosystems in Southern California.
