The Kitsap Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1987 by the Kitsap Oldtimers Association (KOA) to celebrate individuals who made significant contributions to the local baseball and softball communities. This included athletes, coaches, umpires, team sponsors, and even those who shared the stories of the game through the media.
Over the course of 16 years, the KOA inducted 237 honorees before the organization concluded its efforts in 2003. In 2005, the Kitsap Athletic Roundtable (KAR) revived the Hall of Fame, expanding its scope to include athletes, coaches, and contributors from all sports. The Hall of Fame now not only honors excellence in athletics but also acknowledges those who have demonstrated a positive impact on their communityupholding values of good character, sportsmanship, and service to others.
This expansion also pledged to bring in a more diverse group of individuals, ensuring that all athletes and community leaders, regardless of background, are recognized for their contributions to sports and their enduring influence on the Kitsap community.
