Reawaken the Mind, Body and Spirit - Discovering Ancient Healing Practices with Emmy Mitchell
The Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Promotion (IHAWP) Program at Native American Community Services is offering a very special event in Buffalo NY to help strengthen and expand our healing journeys to overcome the residual impacts of residential boarding schools and additional factors of historical traumas and continuing challenges to Indigenous health and wellness.
Emmy Mitchell (Mohawk, Turtle Clan) is widely known and respected for her ability to support Indigenous health and wellness through storytelling, interactive sessions, and healing activities. These workshops are based on reawakening ancient cultural healing practices.
These ageless and seldom used oral traditional teachings were practiced regularly from the beginning of time. Today, some refer to this method as new age or alternative healing. However, historically Native peoples lived and benefited by incorporating this in their daily lives. All participants will be involved in oral teachings and handouts designed to re-awaken the mind, body and spirit.
Highlights of these sessions include: --The activities of these workshops provide tools for participants as they journey towards their personal path to healing. --Awareness of healing techniques, increased spiritual, mental and emotional awareness thereby leading to a greater balance in life. --Participants will be able to integrate a cultural and spiritual approach when working within their community. --Traditional Cultural Team Building Approach
Please consider joining us for this powerful, healing journey to help us all restore our wellness for ourselves, our families, communities and the Seven Generations to come!
While we encourage you to attend all of the sessions, you are welcome to join us for the sessions that you can. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide children's activities or supervision.
SPECIAL FEATURE: Friday, November 8, 2024, a Haudenosaunee Social Dance featuring the Allegany Singing Society, with a community dinner at 5:30 pm, followed by Social Dancing at 6:30 pm. No pre-registration is needed for the social dance. All are welcome!
