Based on NBC correspondent Jacob Soboroffs book, Morris merges explosive interviews with high-ranking whistleblowing officials and artful narrative vignettes tracing one migrant familys plight as they venture north toward the U.S. border. Together, they reveal that the cruelty at the heart of this policy was its very purpose. Against this backdropwith hundreds of families still separated years lateraudiences can begin to grasp the unthinkable effects of the U.S. governments border policies, and the horrifying reality that this not-too-distant history is poised to repeat itself.
