The Erie Railroad acquired the Northern in 1942, and it operated as Eries Nyack and Piermont Branch until it ceased passenger service in 1966.
During the walk, Mr. Goodwillie will discuss the history of the area and highlight historical signage along the path that includes photos of South Nyack before the Tappan Zee Bridge and Thruway were built.
Please note: This two-mile walk (round trip) is rated easy and will take place entirely on the improved rail trail. Participants should wear sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots. Please be sure to bring water and dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
