CHARLES NEVILLE w/ HENRI SMITH'S NEW ORLEANS FRIENDS & FAMILY
The band's repertoire will include New Orleans flavoured funky jazz, rhythm & blues, second line parade beats and traditional Mardi Gras Indian chants. Charles, the second oldest Neville brother, has the most diverse musical background of his family members. His experience on saxophone has included rhythm & blues, funk, jazz, be-bop, popular and even American Indian music. He cites as influences Louis Jordan, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins and Professor Longhair. Charles Neville's work with the Neville Brothers is well known throughout the world, but his sparkling work with jazz standards and bebop classics is a treat to hear from such an accomplished instrumentalist and improviser. With Henri Smith and the band, he rambles through dance music of all sorts, while always giving the nod to his roots.
