A DAUGHTER'S FATHER, THE FRESH FACE OF HIV, THE TRIUMVIRATE
:
A DAUGHTER'S FATHER Kathrin Burmester A chronicle of the journey of a man and his family as he fights for his life against cancer. From the initial operation to remove a malignant tumor to recovery, rehabilitation, and eventual relapse, the filmmaker used the right amount of narration to elicit a powerful response and glimpse into demanding and painful experiences while also revealing enduring strength found in ordinary people and what is really important in life.
THE FRESH FACE OF HIV Phoebe Brown, Collin Hicks, Marvin Evangelista - 2004 USA With the advent of antiretroviral medications, people with HIV/AIDS began living longer, healthier lives and the attention paid in the US to domestic HIV/AIDS issues began to wane. But was no new good news? Three students in documentary filmmaker Niklas Vollmer's Community Based Media Project class at Georgia State University, Phoebe Brown, Collin Hicks and Marvin Evangelista investigate the realities of living with HIV/AIDS and find that the fight against HIV is far from over. Using a blend of personal narratives and clinical facts what we found was that many of the improvements in treatment come at a cost and the best hope we have right now lies in prevention.
THE TRIUMVIRATE Jean Strauss - USA 2004 The story of three generations of women separated from each other by adoption and the effect that reconnecting has on their lives.
