Event
2024 REAP Fairbanks House Party
Alaska currently faces several critical energy challenges with serious implications for the future of our economy and way of life.
Our Railbelt utilities face impending shortfalls in supply of Cook Inlet natural gas. Coal-fired generation is polluting our air and causing myriad negative health impacts. Global fossil fuel prices remain volatile and unpredictable, contributing to existential crises of affordability in many of our rural and remote communities.
Meanwhile, renewable energy costs are plummeting, unprecedented levels of federal funding are available for clean energy projects over the next 8 years, and several of our elected leaders support REAP-drafted legislation to establish a Standard in the Railbelt for achieving the lowest-cost energy future for all Alaskans by developing our local, stably-priced, renewable energy resources.
We must rally our resources and act now to set state energy policy that ensures our electric utilities will maximize the value that flows to Alaskan ratepayers from generational Federal investments in upgrading the Railbelt grid and stimulating the development of renewable energy projects across our state.
Please join REAP staff and your fellow clean energy champions for this community-led event to learn how we plan to meet this pivotal moment for Alaskan energy and how you can support REAP's important work!
Complimentary food and beverages will be provided along with live music courtesy of Gunnysack Annie & JD Mason. We can't wait to see you there!
