Salon Selects: The Red Party
As part of the final "Salon Selects" season, theARTcorps and The Southside Supper Club collaborate by transforming a private Brooklyn loft into a sumptuous Chinese wedding banquet. Guests are invited to mix and mingle over cocktails and punch, before finding their places at communal tables for family-style dinner. The delectable nine-course tasting menu features traditional ingredients in inventive and creative new ways: from congee to duck, bok choy to Szechuan and hoisin sauces.
Chef Fred Hua of Nhà Tôi in Williamsburg scours the city, knocking himself out to knock your taste buds out. The menu (as of Apr 22) reads like this:
FIRST COURSE black rice congee with dogfish, asparagus, habanero oil
SECOND COURSE chinese crostinis with steam bread: -cured filet mignon and broccoli spread -szechuan silky chicken and cilantro honey pesto -three-bean spread and pickled sunchoke
THIRD COURSE warm salad: chinese broccoli, peashoots, fiddleheads, chayote, bok choy
FOURTH COURSE chinese bbq salmon
FIFTH COURSE lobster with meyer lemon aioli, candied walnuts
SIXTH COURSE vegetable dumpling with leeks, morel mushrooms, ramps, turnip
SEVENTH COURSE thin slices of lamp wrapped in napa cabbage
EIGHTH COURSE roasted duck breast with cognac hoisin
NINTH COURSE fresh grapefruit, persimmon, dragonfruit *jasmine rice available upon request throughout the dinner
Saturday, April 26 (7pm-midnight) 12-turn-13 (172 Classon Avenue) $80pp, w/ complimentary drinks (BYOB okay) Red attire strongly encouraged
