HOMEGROWN BY JEANNINE COULOMBE
Jeannine Coulombe's (THE MILL) new play HOMEGROWN explores the ways in which poverty and rural isolation stifles the creative impulses and artistic opportunities of a single mother and her children. Aspiring photographer Maryanne Durant has died in poverty, and her three thirty-something children, Charlee, Bobbi, and Russ come together in an impromptu reunion. Over the course of one long night these siblings compare notes over their inheritance: an enigmatic package of photographs that their mother has left each of them. Russ thinks there's a secret cash estate that Bobbi is hiding, and the conflict forces the three siblings to confront their own relationship with their mother and her art, the disparate ways in which their own creativity has been stymied, and ultimately, the true nature of their mother's final gift.
HOMEGROWN stars Jennifer Blagen, Miriam Schwartz, Katherine Kupiecki, Matthew Rein, and Adelin Phelps. It features light and projection design by Ian Knodel; sound design by Peter Morrow; costume design by Cole Allon Bylander; set design by Holly Wingingstad; and prop design by Matthew Gilbertson. The production also features original music by Matthew Rein and Jason Murray, and original photography by Amy Sundby Jeanchaiyaphum.
