Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health Great Plains Grand Opening
The Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health (JHCIH) is proud to announce the grand opening of our newest site in the Great Plains region of South Dakota. Please join us to meet JHCIH faculty and hear about our research collaboration opportunities with key leaders and stakeholders.
The Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health is committed to promoting Indigenous health equity through evidence-based public health programs, education initiatives, innovative research, policy advocacy and the dissemination of proven programs tailored to community needs. Founded in 1991 at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Center for Indigenous Health has deep-rooted connections dating back to the 1980s with tribes such as the Navajo Nation and the White Mountain Apache Tribe. Today, our reach extends beyond the Southwest, with partnerships across the US and collaborations with Indigenous communities globally, including Australia, British Columbia in Canada, and New Zealand. Our Centers core areas of focus include Policy & Advocacy, Education & Training, Research & Evaluation, and Wise Practices. We advocate for policies that support Indigenous health equity, offer scholarships to foster Indigenous leadership in public health, conduct community-based research to develop and evaluate interventions, and actively share our findings to empower Indigenous communities worldwide. Through these efforts, we uphold a commitment to respectful and collaborative partnerships in public health.
