FROM SLASHERS TO BODY SNATCHERS: WRITING THE HORROR SCREENPLAY (1 Day)
Writing Pad East
Los Angeles, CA
Share this event:

Are you the type of person who dreams of writing the next breakout horror film?  Scary films are among the most lucrative films in an ever shrinking marketplace. Let veteran horror writer John Skipp (Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child) show you how. In this one-day class, you'll learn everything you need to know about the Horror Genre, from setting up a terrifying premise, inserting those hair-raising scares, and paying it off with a heart pounding conclusion. In craft talks, John will explain the intrinsic nature of horror and how it differs from other genres. He'll also bring in clips from his films to illustrate the use of sound and the unseen to build suspense. Through fun-in class exercises, you'll find the major beats of your film and learn how to punch up your scenes for maximum screams. By the end of the class, you'll have honed your concept and will be ready to dive into your script with focus and purpose. Cat jumping out of closet not included.
