Two Lives Plus One
Eliane Weiss is overwhelmed by her life, work, and family. So when she begins writing and meets an attractive publisher, everyone is taken by surprise and must readjust to the new Eliane ... This charming French film shows one womans explorations of herself, her family, and the Jewish heritage that binds them together. In actress Idit Cebula's pleasant but Paris-set feature debut, Two Lives Plus One, a woman previously devoted to work and family takes time to pursue her private passion, writing, greatly discomfiting colleagues and loved ones in the process. Built around the idea of the overbearing Jewish family, comic drama expands themes of culture and identity Cebula explored in shorts "A Table" and "Varsovie-Paris." Pairing of stars Emmanuelle Devos and Gerard Darmon as a long-married couple and the writer's touching conversations with her deceased father (Michel Feldman) represent this picture's main selling points.
