EVENT DESCRIPTION & ORGANIZERS
The Event The event will focus on the practices and techniques that emerging market (EM) investors use to evaluate corporate governance regimes. Panelists will attempt to separate fact from fiction with regard to EM risk. Investment blow-ups and near misses will be embraced as whole-heartedly as triumphs in assessing lessons learned and discerning the real threats to corporate cash flows. The discussion will highlight two critical areas of the corporate governance challenge: (1) What are the crucial governance considerations when investing in EM versus developed markets and is there any ongoing convergence in global standards of transparency and governance issues? (2) What tangible and intangible factors related to governance have a significant impact on investment performance and what country factors, if any, cannot be overcome by good governance?
