Ivy Theatre Company presents The Feminism of a Soft Merlot or (How the Donkey Got Punched) a witty new dark comedy by Micheline Auger, that explores female sexuality, friendship, monogamy, and sprinkle in a little bit about porn.
Along with this amazing production, you will also see a number of pieces of art inspired by the play exhibited in the lobby. Just have to have one? No problem! Bid on the piece as part of a silent auction with proceeds benefitting Ivy Theatre and Funny...Sheesh Productions, who is sharing the space, set and designers.

Diana Oh plays Kareena, a sexually empowered lawyer trying her hand at monogamy for the first time. Diana Oh is an Actor, Singer/Songwriter, and Librettist. She received a sold-out extended run of Diana Oh is GOING ROGUE, the solo show in terraNOVA Collective's 10th Annual soloNOVA Festival in 2013 and was the lead vocalist and co-creator for the theatrical storytelling rock show, The Sister Rosettas. As an actor, she has performed in film and on stage for Comedy Central, National Geographic, B.B.C., Goodspeed Opera House, Lincoln Center, terraNOVA Collective, Judith Malina's The Living Theatre, Caps Lock Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, LAByrinth, Gideon Productions, La MaMa, HERE, Women's Center Stage, Culture Project, Purple Rep, London's MacOwan Theatre, le poisson Rouge and L.A.'s Cornerstone Theatre Company. As a singer/songwriter she performs as Diana Oh is GOING ROGUE and has performed her storytelling shows nationally in New York City, Massachusetts and Oregon. Lauren Dortch Crozier is Sam, a self proclaimed prude who goes on a journey to document her transformation while dating a pornographer.
Patrick Daniel Smith is Teddy, who is a nice guy trying to make an honest woman out of Kareena. Patrick is a member of AEA and he is known for his roles in the films Bare Knuckle and V.I.P.S, the web series Shinobi Girl and Flesh for the Beast: Tsukikos' Curse, as well as television roles on Law and Order: SVU, The Carrie Diaries, and Smash. Patrick got his professional start doing voice-over work for children's books when he was a teenager, and was active in theatre and improv groups through college. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Patrick moved to Chicago, where he performed in a variety of theatrical productions and local commercials, as well as several improv groups. Patrick also did a variety of industrial films for the military while in DC, working with the USMC, Dept. of Defense, Kansas National Guard, and The US Army, among others.
Justin Anselmi plays Kyle, a generally nice guy who happens to be a pornographer.
Audrey Alford, Ivy Theatre Founding Member and director, has directed in multiple cities across the country and is now settled in Hoboken, New Jersey. In 2013, she founded Ivy Theatre Company and was nominated for Best Director in the Midtown International Theatre Festival for Black Ice, by Lezlie Revelle. The New York Times called her production of Like Poetry, by Kristian O'Hare, in FringeNYC a "highly promising productionbeautifully structured, with an impressive blend of poignancy and humor, nicely distinct performances, and respectfully playful direction." She directed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, an adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher, to sold out houses at CAST in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her work was called "scintillating" by Creative Loafing and Lawrence Toppman said "I've occasionally heard doubts that women should direct and design plays written by men and primarily about men. 'Jekyll and Hyde' ought to put doubts to rest" in the Charlotte Observer.
Micheline Auger, playwright, Micheline's recent productions include the Untitled Degradation Play (Rising Phoenix Rep's Cino Nights Series, Winter 2013) and American River (Lesser America, Summer, 2012). Her other work has been developed or produced by Dixon Place, Primary Stages, Westside Theatre, Miranda Theatre, Amoralab, NY International Fringe Festival, New York Madness, OMPF, Horsetrade Theatre Co, Riot Act, Caps Lock Theatre Company, Sugarspace and Highways Performance Complex, among others. She is the recipient of the 2012 National Theater Conference Paul Green Award, creator of the theater blog Theaterspeak.org and the creator/producer of Write Out Front: A Playwright Happening which put 76 up-and-coming and professional playwrights in the Drama Bookshop Storefront Window writing plays for three weeks in August 2012.
