Phill Reynolds / Viking Moses / Hank Tree
Songwriters from Italy, the USA and Scotland come together to play compelling music in the intimate surroundings of the Red Door Club in Glasgow's Southside.
Phill Reynolds - the dark alt-country alter ego of the Venetian singer-songwriter and one man band Silva Martino Cantele, Phill Reynolds' commanding voice and intricate, rapid-fire fingerpicking will be something to behold in a small room. Reynolds has released 4 solo albums and toured extensively. His stunning performance of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire on Italy's X-Factor in 2021 brought a new audience to Reynolds' compelling music.
Viking Moses - acclaimed songwriter Brendon Massei has released 5 albums under the moniker Viking Moses. Hailing from the US but now residing in Scotland, Massei's powerful performance style, innovative guitar playing and candid songwriting have won him an army of followers, including the Guardian who described him as "the most uniquely talented musician since Kurt Cobain". The subject of the documentary film Werewolves in the City, Viking Moses has performed ceaselessly around the globe for the past 3 decades, touring with artists including Phosphorescent, and James Yorkston and releasing music with Marriage Records and Alan McGee's Poptones label.
Hank Tree - opening the night is a solo performance by Hank Tree, the Glasgow based project led by Fergus MacDonald, also comprising Roy Shearer (Ultras, Inspector Tapehead) and Bart Owl (Eagleowl, Broken Chanter). Hank Tree released its first EP in 2018 via the Chilean label Uva Robot with a debut album to be released 2022 on Olive Grove Records. Expect effect laden classical guitar and minimalistic ballads. Hank Tree have supported artists including King Creosote, Alasdair Roberts and Gwenifer Raymond. "The perfect collision of Nick Drake-esque finger picking and Monster era REM." Roddy Hart
