The Joy of Cheese Presents The Stella Seven
For cheese lovers, spring is the very best time of the year. During the spring the dairy animals give richer milk which yields more flavorful cheeses. Also this richer milk is perfect for making softer, sumptuously textured cheeses brimming with grassy and complex flavors. It may still be cold and damp in New York City but spring warmth is in full effect in cheesemaking epicenters like Italy, southern France and Northern California. Come join us April 30 at 7 at Stella, 213 Front St., for the second installment of The Stella Seven as we explore a baker's half dozen or more of these spectacular cheeses. Veteran Cheesemonger Martin Johnson from The Joy of Cheese will present, sample and lead discussion on the cheeses and this isn't even half the show. Wine authority Peter Jamros of Regal Wines will pair these cheeses with four superb wines chosen specifically to pair with the new season's fromage. Tickets are $40. Our event will last somewhere between 90 minutes and two hours depending on how inquisitive you are, but be warned these are provacative cheeses and wines. They inspire lots of "wow, what was that?"
