Jason Robert Brown in Concert
In his only Bay-area appearance this year, Tony Award winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown performs at a benefit concert for Roustabout Theater. The concert happens on October 21st, 8pm at the brand-new Glaser Center, 547 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA (60 miles north of San Francisco). Tickets are $25 (General Seating - Advance Purchase) and $30 (Premium Seating - Advance Purchase).
Joining Jason is renowned Broadway singer and long-time collaborator, Amy Ryder.
Roustabout Theater is Sonoma County's newest non-profit theater creating professional productions of classic theater. In addition, Roustabout trains actors through its Conservatory and Apprentice Productions.
Jason Robert Brown is hailed as "a leading member of a new generation of composers who embody high hopes for the American musical" (The New York Times) and "one of Broadway's smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim" (Philadelphia Inquirer).
Jason won the Tony Award for his score to "Parade" (directed by Harold Prince), and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics for his wildly popular "The Last Five Years." He was also a Tony Award nominee for his contributions to the score of "Urban Cowboy the Musical." Jason's first musical, "Songs for a New World," played Off-Broadway at the WPA Theatre and includes the cabaret standard "Stars and the Moon," which has been performed and recorded by Audra McDonald, Betty Buckley, Karen Akers, Rene Fleming and many others.
