Empty Bowl Dinner

At an Empty Bowl Dinner, you are invited to feast on soups and breads donated by local restaurants and bakeries. In return, you get to take home a hand-made bowl as a reminder of your support of Family Promise and food ministries of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church.

Family Promise of Northern New Castle County partners with churches in the greater Wilmington area to provide temporary housing for families who are homeless. The families stay in churches during the night, and receive job and educational assistance during the day.

St. Stephen's has been a presence in the Trolley Square neighborhood of Wilmington for almost 90 years. It hosts one of the largest food pantries in the state of Delaware, providing emergency food provisions for 800 families each month. In order to expand its food ministries, St. Stephen's is renovating its kitchen in order to expand its food ministries to programs such as community meals and cooking skills classes.

Proceeds from the Empty Bowl Dinner will be split between Family Promise and the kitchen renovation fund.
