Cost Break Down:
Our operating budget is $11,000. To make it possible, we ask for some sort of contribution from each participant. We are exploring a new structure that allows you to join us regardless of your financial resources.
We invite you to explore your financial resources before you decide what you can lovingly contribute to Queer Camp 2014. Regardless of what monetary contribution you decide on, you will be welcome with wide open arms to the Queer Camp Community!
For 4 nights and 3 days of fun, food, and friends, it costs us roughly:
Camp Grounds: $17/per camper Food: $73/per camper Supplies & T shirts: $50/per camper Programing: $83/per camper Contribution to youth program: $12/per camper Contribution to QC year long programing: $36/per camper
If you do the math, it actually adds up to more than $245, we are subsidizing the costs by doing as many fundraisers as possible!
What to expect at camp: 10 amazing organic meals planned by a professional chef and seriously geared to any dietary need Tent camping at a private group campsite in Lake Chabot Regional Park (including running drinking water and bathrooms, but no showers!) A little bit of campy structure, including group games, hikes, campfire singing, arts & crafts, an informal variety show and costumes (and all sorts of diy throwbacks to the summer camp joys you either want to relieve, replace, or experience for the first time!) Balanced with time to enjoy nature, new friends and the beautiful night sky An environment safe for exploring/growing our ideas about gender, queerness, social justice and community through a shared commitment to cultivating awareness, respect, and admiration for each other's differences and commonalities A chance to deepen relationships through smaller 'Rainbow Family Groups' while enjoying 60 new but welcoming faces An opportunity to get away from the 'scene' and enjoy nature and community substance-free
