Alex de Grassi and Paul McCandless, benefit concert
Mendocino Stories and Music Series invites you to experience a unique collaboration for an evening of jazz, blues and original music. On Saturday, April 26 Alex de Grassi and Paul McCandless will join forces in a benefit concert for MUSE (Mendocino Unified School Enrichment). The concert will begin at 7:30PM at Little River Inn's Abalone Room, 7901 N Hwy One in Little River.
Grammy Award nominee and Indie Award nominee for The Water Garden, cherished county resident Alex de Grassi grew up in the Bay Area. He learned to play trumpet at age 13, but when he discovered the guitar he never looked back. Alex collaborates with Chilean multi-instrumentalist Quique Cruz in the band Tatamonk and with experimental guitarist g.e. stinson. Born in the small town of Indiana, Pennsylvania to a musical family, Paul McCandless inherited his artistic passion from his parents who were both music teachers. During a distinguished career spanning over three decades, McCandless brings a soaring lyricism to his playing and composing that has been integral to the ensemble sound of two seminal world music bands, the original Paul Winter Consort and the relentlessly innovative quartet, OREGON.
Formed in 2001, MUSE is a nonprofit educational organization that relies upon the generous support of our community. For more information, go to http://muse.mcn.org/
