Join us for summer fun and hands-on learning in the Dirt Works Children's Garden!
WSU Master Gardener volunteers teach children ages 4-12 horticulture and environmental science education through fun and creative activities. Young gardeners are introduced to the art and science of gardening while developing community service values.
The bounty raised from the garden will be donated to the Thurston County Food Bank.
Each program includes hands-on garden activities based on a different theme.
Example activities include: - Tending and harvesting - Playing garden games - Storytime - Take-home crafts
The activities are designed to promote a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the environment, and cultivate the mind.
Program Schedule & Themes: -August 6th Vermi-Wormy Compost -August 13th Super Sunflowers -August 20th Sand, Silt, Clay, Hooray! -August 27th Garden Critters
Please register for each day that you would like to attend.
Program Requirements: -Participants must reside in Thurston County. -Guardians or chaperones must accompany children at all times during the program. -Required emergency contact form will be emailed upon registration. Emergency contact forms must be completed for each attendee and returned prior to your class date**
This program is designed for individuals, no large groups (i.e. day cares, youth groups, youth camps etc.)
