MIZMOR + Amarok
MIZMOR Mizmor is a one-person metal project created by A.L.N., a Portland, Oregon native who has also been a live member of Hell. The name Mizmor comes from the Hebrew word for "hymn," "chant," and "psalm". Mizmor's music combines elements of doom, sludge, black, and drone metal. Mizmor began in 2012 with the release of his self-titled debut album. Since then, he has released several EPs and splits, including This Unabating Wakefulness in 2018 and Cairn in 2019. His second album, Yodh, was released in 2016, and his other albums include Woe Regains My Substance and Yodh: Live at Roadburn. A.L.N. started Mizmor as a way to deal with his mental and spiritual anguish, and to express a fusion of black metal and doom metal.
AMAROK Amarok is a California-based doom/sludge metal band that formed in 2009. Their music is influenced by the Middle Ages and Mediterranean, and their name comes from the Eskimo word for "wolf". The band's members are Brandon Squyres (bass, vocals), Colby Byrn (drums), Nathan Collins (guitars), and Kenny Ruggles (guitars, vocals). Amarok's albums include * Devoured*, Mujer Luna (2002), Quentadharken (2004), and Hero (2021). Mujer Luna is considered their most progressive album, and features a combination of keyboards, guitar, and acoustic prog. Quentadharken is more neo, with more focus on electric guitar and keyboard.
