Creating Compelling Characters
Without characters, there is no story. But what makes a character memorable? How do we create complex, believable, and unique characters? What do characters have to do with conflict? How do we figure out what makes our characters tick? In this one day-intensive, we'll examine character development through writing exercises, discussion of craft, and close readings of published work. You'll have the opportunity to develop the characters you're already working with, as well as imagine and generate new characters. This class will inspire and challenge you to breathe life into your characters. Open to all levels, useful for both fiction and nonfiction.
