Kitsap County Reentry Simulation: Resilient Reentry Resources Reduces Recidivism
We all know someone who is impacted by the criminal legal system, and all we want for that person is to get it right. However, getting it right isn't supported by the "system" because of the barriers within that same system, and the lack of resilient resources oftentimes leads to recidivism.
The goal of this event is to open and inspire systems change through a simulation embedded within facilitated presentations on the topic of the 5R's (Resilient Reentry Resources Reduces Recidivism).
The simulation portion of the event is for participants to gain an understanding of the significant obstacles faced by those coming out of incarceration and attempting to navigating their release and returning home to their communities. To "walk in the shoes" of one who is returning home gives invaluable insight to professionals who are tasked with helping formerly incarcerated achieve a successful reentry.
***WE ARE NOW AT FULL CAPACITY FOR THE SIMULATION*** This means your ticket price will buy you a seat to observe the reentry experience from "the sidelines". Spectators will experience the perspective of a "community member".
If you are a community member and the cost of the ticket is a barrier to participate, please email info@kitsapstrong.org. A limited number of (spectator) tickets are sponsored by NAACP Bremerton 1134 and Tarra Simmons.
As formal and informal leaders serving this community, we hope that you join us. Reentry is a complex and unpredictable process and since each person has different individual needs, resources, and histories, each person's life path is distinctive. Successful Reentry is not something that happens automatically upon release from jail or prison, but it is something which has a greater chance of occurring if planned accordingly and offered through a trauma-informed approach as the north star for systems change.
