The Clown and the Fuhrer
Director: Eduaard Cortes 95 min.
Based on real people, this film brings to life a gripping power struggle between two famous clowns, Charlie Rivel and his partner, Witzi and an SS Agent Kraus, who wants to be part of their act. It is 1944 and they are chosen to perform in honor of Hitlers birthday. Charlie reluctantly agrees but Witzi does not. The tension mounts when they try to back out. This film brims with suspense and excellent performances. Post Film Discussion with Robert Cohn, Editor Emeritus, St. Louis Jewish Light.
