Welcome to Seattle Cabaret Festival 2024!
THURSDAY MAY 9 at 7:00 PM
SEATTLE CABARET FESTIVAL PRESENTS: GRETCHEN RUMBAUGH in "IN MY LIFE: A BEATLES LOVE LETTER"
Gretchen Rumbaugh sings her Theatrical Jazz arrangements of familiar Beatles tunes and weaves them into a colorful collage full of fun and heartfelt connection.
ABOUT GRETCHEN RUMBAUGH Gretchen has led a very theatrical life with fascinating opportunities to portray real-life women as diverse as MAE WEST, PATSY CLINE, LEONA HELMSLEY, and ANN LANDERS, and such classic characters as SHIRLEY VALENTINE, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (twice!), Mama Rose in GYPSY, Dot/Marie in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, and Mrs. Lovett in Sondheim's masterpiece, SWEENEY TODD. While living in Portland, OR, Gretchen produced and hosted four years of CABARET CHANTEUSE, a monthly professional singer showcase at Tony Starlight's Supperclub. Local audiences may remember her best from the original cast of Seattle's longest-running hit musical, ANGRY HOUSEWIVES. This is Gretchen's fourth time with Seattle Cabaret Festival.
SEATTLE CABARET FESTIVAL PRESENTS: THE JOAN HOUSTON & BOB BRUNEAU SHOW
Featuring Joan's strong voice with Bob singing along at times as well, this show is a platform for Joan's fun and sometimes spicy take on the men in her life, and in the nightclub. Bob and Joan have a banter that audiences absolutely love!
ABOUT JOAN HOUSTON and BOB BRUNEAU
Joan Houston was immersed in music growing up in the Seward Park neighborhood of Seattle. She is Whitney Houston's first cousin, although she didn't know her well. Joan's family always had music and musicians around. Joan was a KING 5 TV reporter, then the Development Director of the United Negro College Fund. She retired to Mexico in 2010. Bob Bruneau was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and started playing piano in church. He went on to get his music education degree at Portland State, and after four years in the Air Force Band of the Pacific Northwest, he formed the Seattle-based band A New Day with a fellow airman. A past member of Seattle Men's Chorus and frequent musical director for Arnaldo!, Bob retired to Puerto Vallarta in 2004.
Showtime: 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:00.
