Jazz/Hip Hop Fusion Workshop
Learn two contrasting styles of dance in one single workshop class! These fresh Hip Hop moves combined with the smooth elements of Jazz technique will get you moving to the hit music you love to listen to. Students will learn popular Hip Hop steps, from "old school" to "new school," while infusing the style of Hip Hop with Jazz technique. Take a break -- from your Spring Break -- and learn some cool moves you'll just have to show your friends! With Miss Malinda.
For ages 7-teen
Tuesday, April 15, 4:15-5:00pm at California Arts Academy.
$10 for registered Cal Arts students; $12 for unregistered students. *Must register by Friday, April 11th.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Malinda Asbury studied her first love of dance starting at the age of 4 at Cynthia Merrill School of the Performing Arts. Since then has studied various styles of dance through a variety of dance masters around Fresno. Malinda grew a passion for teaching and choreographing while attending Bullard TALENT. After graduating from Roosevelt School of the Arts, she pursed her passion for dance and received a B.A. degree in Dance at San Jose State University. Her studies included Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Ballet, Latin Dance, Capoeira, and Choreography. While in college, Malinda has performed with Mantanceros (salsa) and trained under Joelle Maletis at SJSU. After graduating from San Jose State, Malinda has performed, choreographed and taught jazz and tap at Good Company Players. She currently teaches jazz at Bullard TALENT, and jazz, tap, and salsa at California Arts Academy. Malinda continues to pursue teaching others the same passion of dance she has grown to love and cannot live without.
