How Do We Know What We Know? -- Kathy Bornino
We know some things about our inner and outer worlds because we take measurements, make mathematical calculations, and draw logical conclusions. Other things we know through other ways of knowing, such as intuition, subliminal perception, shared wisdom, subtle or psi perception and faith. During his 1973 moon journey, astronaut Edgar Mitchell, an engineer and scientist, became fascinated with his experiences of consciousness that went well beyond what current science could explain. He established the Institute of Noetic Sciences to study alternative ways of knowing, beyond the rational. Noetic comes from the Greek "nous" or "noos" meaning ways of knowing. In its 40 years the Institute has participated in research on ways the mind influences the body, our relationships, telepathy, the energy fields that surround living beings, and more. Many advances in complementary and alternative healing have come through this research. Kathy Bornino MA, MFT has led a local study group of the Institute of Noetic Sciences for 15 years. Join her to learn more about the fascinating research that has been done and continues in exciting new directions.
