Findlay Napier at Edinburgh FC / EFC
Findlay Napier is one of Scotland's finest songwriters and was nominated for Musician of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards. In 2018 he was the first solo act to be nominated for Live Act of the Year. Described variously as Michael Marra meets Elvis Costello, a Caledonian Loudon Wainwright or a Scottish James Taylor, this master storyteller's songs are full of earthy humour, hopeless love and biting satire.

Findlay made his name touring and recording with multi-award winning traditional Scottish folk band Back of the Moon. In his more recent projects Queen Annes Revenge and The Bar Room Mountaineers his song-writing took centre stage and was described by The Sunday Herald as Genuine songcraft and wit following in the Difford & Tilbrook tradition. He is also well known as the host of Celtic Connections Late Night Sessions and for his Hazy Recollections concert series which showcases the very best in new roots music.

His breakthrough solo album, VIP: Very Interesting Persons, produced by Boo Hewerdine, went to number 2 in The Daily Telegraphs top folk albums. He followed that with 2017s Glasgow, described by The Scotsman as a paean to his adopted home town which led to a number of high profile gigs including a couple of seasons as the opening act on Eddi Readers UK tours.

In 2021 he released It Is What It Is, a collaboration album in all but name with producer and multi-instrumentalist Angus Lyon which Folk Radio UK called, A captivating, indispensable work; it is what it is and what it is, is magnificent. In late 2021 he joined the folk-rock supergroup The Magpie Arc with Martin Simpson, Tom A Wright, Alex Hunter and Nancy Kerr performing on festival main stages and arts centres across the UK. Their debut album, Glamour in the Grey, was released in October 2022. His next solo album, An Extensive List of Lost Things, will be released in early 2024 accompanied by a UK and Canadian tour.

Findlay set up Glasgow Songwriting Festival in 2016.
