BIG STAR COMIDA
"Hog Butcher for the World, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat...." Sandburg was right; if there's a place that knows hogs it's our stormy, husky, brawling City. To celebrate pigs, wheat and hopefully the beginning of better weather, we're having our friends from Big Star come and hang out in the back of the brewery for eight hours, garage doors open while slow cooking a whole roasted pig Cochinito-style. The hog is the centerpiece of the comida. Brace yourselves. Here's the full menu:
* GUACAMOLE PICADO w/ chips and Big Star salsas * FRIJOLES CHARROS Stewed pinto beans with poblanos, tomato and bacon * PAPAS CON RAJAS Baked Yukon gold potatoes with chipotles rajas * ZANAHORIAS ASADAS Roasted carrots with cumin seed, honey, onion and garlic * COCHINITO PIBIL Whole pig wrapped in banana leaves and rubbed in achiote paste, roasted until tender, w/ oranges and limes, cabbage, red onions and fresh coriander. Hand pressed tortillas fresh corn masa. * POSTRE Hielo de Cajeta: Goat's milk ice cream and caramel with dark chocolate and arbol chile flakes.
And you get to pair all that with three pints from our taps. One seating. 7pm. 50 seats.
