The BHS Pennines Committee are hosting a webinar titled "Open Methods in Flood Hydrology" which is a joint talk by the Environment Agency and JBA Consulting detailing outcomes of a recent review of open hydrological methods for flood risk management.
Date: Tuesday 30th January at 12:30 - 13:30.
Speakers:
Duncan Faulkner, Head of Hydrology, JBA Consulting (BHS President) Dr Chris Skinner, Hydrologist - FHIP, Environment Agency (BHS Trustee)
This is the first opportunity for the UK hydrological community to hear about the outcomes of a recently-completed review of open hydrological methods for flood risk management.
The project formed part of the Environment Agency's Flood Hydrology Improvements Programme, a contribution to the agenda set by the UK Flood Hydrology Roadmap.
Join us to: - Hear how a long walk along the River Eden has provided creative inspiration for an inclusive and inquisitive journey towards more open methods. - Puzzle over how we reconcile hydrological inquisitiveness and exploration with the need for clarity, simplicity, structure and sustainable funding. - Be inspired by a vision of a more open future in which methods and datasets are a shared community resource to which anyone can contribute, within a clear governance framework.
