Stanford Talisman A Cappella: SEEKING STORYTELLERS
Talisman A Cappella was founded 24 years ago by Stanford University students in solidarity with the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. The group's mission then was to learn and share the protest songs born in that movement and in doing so, lend an artistic hand to student effort to divest from South Africa. In doing so, Talisman became an artistic change-making force in the the Bay Area, in the United States and internationally, performing at Carnegie Hall, the 1994 Olympics, the White House, and South Africa. Talisman today is rooted in the question of storytelling: We ask: What is at stake at the microphone, at the platform, on the stage? What makes a storyteller, what makes a story?
