Studio Lab: Saidiya Hartman, Ralph Lemon and Geo Wyeth
Join us for a special Studio Lab with literary and cultural critic Saidiya Hartman and artists Ralph Lemon and Geo Wyeth, whose works are included in the current exhibition When the Stars Begin to Fall: Imagination and the American South. This program is organized on the occasion of the exhibition which queries the category of "outsider" art in relation to contemporary art and black life.
Organized in conjunction with MAPP International Productions, this iteration of Studio Lab is a participatory evening in which each of the three presenters is invited to share their work in an open format. Together, they consider ideas of historical time and futurity to the American South, narratives of loss in relationship to this geography, and the status of memorials and counter-memorials.
