String | A dance & object theater show Friday, April 25th 2:30pm at the Garden House in Beacon Hill
About the show: This gentle presentation of dance and object theater, performed by movement artist Mary Margaret Moore, takes very young children on a simple and yet magical journey of discovery. String aims to stimulate children's imagination and stretch their capacity to "read" their experiences and decipher their feelings.
In "String", movement and an array of simple objects inspire a journey into discovery. The fresh and minimal canvas set is a metaphor of a blank page, and upon it, a brilliant red rope leads to a huge canvas bundle. When the show begins, Key, the character, is waiting, playing cat's cradle. She discovers the red winding rope. Following the rope, Key finds the large bundle and unpacks seven brown paper bags. Each bag holds new emotions; the seventh, the bag of dreams and the future, will be opened...tomorrow.
A 35-minute show followed by a Q&A with the performer.
Getting there: Parking is available just behind the Garden House, accessible from the alley. The Beacon Hill Light Rail Station is a very short walk away, as are stops on buses 36 and 60. The Garden House is wheelchair and stroller friendly.
